Open for comment: National Guideline for consideration of climate change implications in applications for environmental authorisations, atmospheric emission licences and waste management licences (comment due before 25 July 2021).
25 June 2021
On 25 June 2021, the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment published a Notice under the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 seekingĀ public comment on a draft National Guideline for the consideration of climate change implications in applications for environmental authorisation, atmospheric emission licences and waste management licences.
Interested parties are invited to comment before 25 July 2021.
The draft National Guideline aims to create a consistent approach for the incorporation of climate change considerations in EIAs, WMLs and AELs. Interested and affected parties will now be provided with the minimum requirements for climate change assessments in these applications. The Guideline will also assist authorities in their determination of these applications.
