Final National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

13 November 2019

National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (13 November 2019)

The National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (NCCAS) provides a common vision of climate change adaptation and climate resilience for the country, and outlines priority areas for achieving this vision. Its vision draws on South Africa’s National Climate Change Response Policy (NCCRP) (DEA 2011), the National Development Plan (NPC 2011), the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (DEA 2011b), the adaptation commitments included in its Nationally Determined Contributions, sector adaptation plans, provincial adaptation plans and municipality adaptation plans. It should be noted that since the NCCAS is specifically focused on adaptation to climate change, mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) is dealt with in other policy documents.
