Draft Preservation and Development of Agricultural Land Bill, 2016
2 September 2016
The purpose of the Draft Preservation and Development of Agricultural Land Bill is to promote the preservation and sustainable development of agricultural land in South Africa. The Draft Bill also aims to provide for the demarcation of protected agricultural areas and to introduce measures to discourage land use changes from agriculture to other forms of development.
The Draft Bill was first published in 2015, but following stakeholder input, a revised draft bill was published for comment on 2 September 2016 by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
