Sibo Buyangane

Activist Support and Training Project Administrator

Sibo completed a B-tech in Environmental Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. In 2012 she began her journey as an environmentalist when she had an opportunity to do six months experiential learning at the City of Cape Town Sustainable Livelihoods Department. At the department, she would go out to schools and low income communities to educate them about the environment and their rights to an environment that is not harmful to their health or well-being; and to have the environment protected for the benefit of present and future generations. The department would also train communities on how to use wonder bags (hot boxes) and do awareness about saving energy, water and biodiversity.

Sibo has volunteered and worked as Field Guide and Environmental Educator at Intaka Island Environmental Education Centre in Century City. She learnt more about biodiversity as she was doing environmental education with school groups from Grade R up to University students coming from all over the world. She also conducted environmental inspections around the nature reserve according to environmental policies and regulations.

Sibo is very passionate about fighting for human and environmental rights thus she strives to be among those that are actively fighting to protect these rights.

Sibo joined the CER as the Activist Support and Training Project Administrator in 2019.
