Nozuko Poni

Communications and Digital Officer

Nozuko Poni studied Film & Media at the University of Cape Town. Her previous work experience includes working with the team that launched Digify, a Google-powered programme that trained young people in digital marketing in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.

As a Project Manager, she then joined Sunshine Cinema, an organisation that promotes the use of alternative energy by harnessing solar-powered cinema and human rights films to empower communities. Through this work she toured with the Plexus Films documentary, “This Land” raising awareness about land rights, specifically mining and the environment. The film tour connected Noni to the Alliance For Rural Democracy where she worked on the Stop The Bantustan Bills as a Communications Coordinator. The organisation resources grassroots activism.

In 2020, she managed the Sunshine Cinema #RenewYourEnergy tour that took “The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind” from Cape Town to the tea-farming regions of Malawi.

Nozuko is passionate about work that empowers and amplifies the voices of rural communities, and protects their rights.

She joins CER as the Communications and Digital Officer.
