Khaliel Moses

Campaign Coordinator for Asina Loyiko

Khaliel Moses is the Campaign Coordinator for Asina Loyiko, an anti-SLAPP suit campaign hosted by the Centre for Environmental Rights. Khaliel’s pronouns are they/them.

Khaliel Moses is an activist who is passionate about social and environmental justice. By mobilising and bringing people together, they believe we can hold the powerful, greedy and polluting corporations accountable for their environmental destruction.

While completing their undergraduate studies in Archaeology and History at the University of Cape Town, Khaliel was active in the Rhodes Must Fall and Fees Must Fall student movements in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Prior to joining CER, Khaliel worked as a community organiser for domestic worker rights issues. In 2018 Khaliel joined Amandla.mobi as a campaigner fellow and stayed on as a junior campaigner, using digital tools to mobilise people across South Africa to campaign on social, economic and environmental justice issues.

Khaliel brings their years of experience as an activist and organiser to the Centre for Environmental Rights. Knowing the important linkages between South Africans ability to practice their right to protest and hold people in power accountable, Khaliel joined CER & the Asina Loyiko campaign in 2019 with the aim to protect, empower and defend environmental rights activists.
