Climate Impacts on Youth and Future Generations
September 2021
The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) in partnership with the African Climate Alliance (ACA) and Vukani Environmental Movement (VEM) invite you to join the launch of a climate impacts report.
Professor Nicholas King’s report explores climate impacts on youth and future generations in South Africa. This report provides an expert interpretation of several recent specialist reports on climate change with regard to impacts on lives, livelihoods and lifestyles from 2021 onwards, through 2030, 2040 and beyond, for today’s and tomorrow’s youth.
This report is part of a series of expert reports that CER is launching in support of the #CancelCoal campaign, in which community organisations and the youth are challenging the governments proposed procurement of new coal-fired power generation.
This comes at a time when South Africa needs to urgently transition away from coal to avoid the harms of the climate crisis, further devastating health impacts to coal-affected communities, and high costs to the economy.
