Draft revision of general authorisations (2016)

On 27 November 2015, the Minister of Water and Sanitation published proposed revisions to the general authorisations under section 39 of the National Water Act, 1998 (NWA).

On 26 January 2016, the Centre for Environmental Rights submitted comments on the draft general authorisations.

Two separate sets of general authorisations resulted from the draft revision:

• General authorisations for the water uses defined in section 21(c) and (i) of the NWA (26 Auguest 2016)
• General authorisations for the taking and storing of a water resource as contemplated in section 21(a) and (b) of the NWA (2 September 2016)
