Draft regulations regarding the procedural requirements for licence applications
On 12 February 2015, the Minister of Water and Sanitation published the draft regulations regarding the procedural requirements for licence applications for comment. The Minister sought to publish the regulations under section 26(1)(k) of the National Water Act, 1998 (NWA). The stated purpose of those draft regulations was to regulate the procedure and criteria in Chapter 4 of the NWA relating to the submission, processing and consideration of, and decision on applications for water use licences in order to avoid or minimize detrimental impacts on the water resources.
The Centre for Environmental Rights submitted comments on the draft regulations on 13 April 2015.
The Water Use Licence and Appeal Regulations were published on 24 March 2017.
