Right2Know’s Secret State of the Nation Report 2014 now available

The Right2Know Campaign has launched its Secret State of the Nation Report for 2014. Amongst the many other trends, patterns and problems in secrecy detailed in this report, it also looks at some of the struggles of communities and community organisations to access information about environmental and social obligations and impacts from private companies.
The Right2Know Campaign is a coalition of organisations that operate through four provincial working groups — in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape — as well as an elected national committee made up of representatives from key civil society organisations, community groups and social movements from across our provincial support bases.
Over the next few months, you can also keep an eye out for the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) Civil Society Network’s 2014 Shadow Report (see the 2013 report here), as well as the Centre for Environmental Rights’ latest report on its work promoting transparency in environmental governance.
