Community brings urgent interdict application to stop dumping of mine waste

On 26 November 2010, members of the Sekuruwe Community brought an urgent application in the North Gauteng High Court for an interdict to stop Anglo Platinum’s PPL Mine near Mokopane in the Limpopo Province from dumping mine waste and continuing with the construction of a tailings dam on the farm Blinkwater.
The Sekuruwe Community is represented by the Legal Resources Centre, with Geoff Budlender SC, Steven Budlender and Tembeka Ngcukaitobi. PPL is represented by Chris Loxton SC and Peter Lazarus.
